Overview:

As a Managing Consultant, you hold a senior position within the business. You will be expected to align yourself to the highest levels of professionalism and leadership.

You’ll be delivery focused and responsible for an internal team, leading by example, inspiring people and developing them to be the best they can be. That will be coupled with commercial activity supporting the Business Development and BMS teams to develop our i3NetZero pipeline.

As a Subject Matter Expert in the field of climate change and sustainability, you will also lead, develop, and maximise the contract and consultancy experience for our clients.

You will also take the position of Leader and Solution Oversight on client projects, supervising and managing consultants to achieve success for our clients. In addition to further seeking and acting on business opportunities to support the organisation’s growth and strategy.

Internal Responsibilities (est. 70%)

• Ability to interface with senior staff, clients and stakeholders
• Support the Leadership Team with business initiatives
• Undertake business development activities and provide effective client interaction
• Assist in bids and obtaining new work
• Represent the company at conferences, client dinners, corporate events and exhibitions
• Manage and supervise technical resources and staff
• Team Management – Leading a strategic direction, responsible for implementing strategy
• Assist in the utilisation levels of service stream consultants
• Line Management of staff, time, workloads, objectives for team and self (Utilisation etc)

Business Development (est. 30%)

• Responsible for account management and/or a large client account
• Involvement in bid writing, development and responding to tenders
• Engaging with clients, potential clients and partners
• Promoting the business through our social media posts (e.g. LinkedIn)
• Develop and present case studies/lessons learnt of current projects and present to clients.
  

Core Skills:

• Significant consultancy experience operating at a senior management level
• Experience in defining, managing and delivering complex projects, programmes and portfolios.
• Recent experience of working within the Ministry of Defence, Nuclear, Public Sector, IT or Infrastructure programmes.
• Understanding of the classification and protection of classified information.
• Leadership of Programme assurance reviews on projects of increasing size and complexity and in the delivery of major business and change management solutions.
• Conversant with continuous improvement and benchmarking methodologies.
• Expertise in multiple planning management and control disciplines.
• Fully conversant with risk and opportunity management including associated methodologies.
• Implementation of benefits management, quality management, and blueprint design and delivery principles.
• Ability to work on own initiative and a ‘Can-Do’ attitude.
• Demonstrable effective communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
• Ability to bid manage complex proposals and provide technical assurance of bid costings and scope, leading bid teams and opportunity pursuit teams.
• Ability to identify key areas for the department to develop capability.
• Ability to lead multi-disciplinary Programme teams, managing performance and delivery.
• Knowledge and experience in Climate Change, Sustainability and/or Social Value and/or Net Zero Pathways, Circular Economy, Decommissioning, Waste, Environmental Management, Climate Security, Nature-based Solutions and/or Sustainable Technology.
• The suitable candidate already holds or will be expected to achieve Security Clearance.

• PRINCE2 – practitioner
• Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) – practitioner
• Management of Projects (MoP) – practitioner
• IEMA Environmental Management / Sustainability Qualification(s)
